Replacement bulb not installing

I have a Samsung HL-S5087W DLP tv. I have purchased a replacement lamp, but I cannot get it to "fit" into the lamp slot. It goes most of the way in, but I can't get it to go in all the way. I don't want to push too hard, don't want to break anything, and I don't think I should have to. Shouldn't it be a simple slide in fit? Website says I have the right replacement lamp, it looks identical, but won't slide in all the way and I am frustrated. HELP PLEASE!!
