Mitsubishi 65" DLP WD-65732 wont turn on

Hello,

I have a Mitsubishi 65" DLP WD-65732 and its not powering up. One day it

turned on but was only sound at first then after a min the picture came on.

Then the next day it didnt come on at all.

When it turns on the fans all come on and it sounds like its going at first

but then quits then tries to fire up again but then fails then ultimately

doesnt power up after a few attempts to.

I tried replacing the lamp and that didnt work same symptoms. Ive had a few

bad lamps before and normal it signals by a red LED but this time it didnt

do that. I did the trouble code test and it signaled 6-6 "bad lamp or

lamp ballast"

I then replaced the lamp ballast and after that i powered it up and now

it starts making a fast clicking noise and every time it clicks i can see

the lamp spark like it wants to fire up but doesnt. I checked the voltage at the ballast and i got ~335v. Should it be 380v like the label on the ballast(where it plugs in) says?

Im assuming this is a very simple problem that im overlooking based on the

symptoms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

-Pat

Hello Rammstein,

I have seem this problem cause the same situations in the same order! I am not sure if on the WD-65732, but For many Mitsubishi TVs including my own. My first question, and my immediate resolution I found, was to replace the lamp with the OEM bulb and not a generic version.

May I ask where and if you purchased an OEM (original), for your TV I know it would have been a 915P049010 Lamp Replacement or a915P049A10.

Hope I can help!

Rammstein,

Based on your information about your WD65732 65" Mitsubishi TV - I would sat that Grayfox is correct. The chances are that you bought a generic 915P049010 lamp. There are times that the chinese lamp makers use a 3.5kV lamp instead of the original or Philips 15kV lamp. This can cause your TV to blow the ballast over time. Once this happens, when you insert a new ballast, the old lamp will no longer ignite.

I highly recommend getting a Philips brand replacement lamp before you start tearing into more parts and spending more money!

I know this is forever ago but just want to thank you guys as it was just a cheap bulb issue. Got an original one and it just went out the other day after 2 years so not bad for what it sounds like others are getting out of these lamps.
