Samsung HLT5076SX/XAA

Postby kscronk512 » Tue Sep 28, 2010 8:43 pm

I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose my DLP.

The television turned off while in use, when we tried to turn it back on the lamp LED flashes and the television tries to display a picture, then the tv turns off and then tries to power up again. We just replaced the lamp three months ago, so I'm thinking maybe a different part has failed?

Also, does anyone know how to access the fan on this model?

:geek: There are other components from the light engine system that can trigger the same alert..... And those are:
1.- Lamp Ballast
2.- Color Wheel
3.- DMD
4.- Temp Sensor
5.- Lamp Door Sensor

 Try to hear a little bit more the TV when is trying to turn ON. You may identify a clicking sound which is the ballast trying to turn ON the lamp. If you hear rapid consecutive clicks, most probably ballast is bad. Another bad ballast symptom is a loud buzzing sound, kind of a fridge.
The ballast will look something like this:

 A bad color wheel might give you a loud buzzing/screeching sound, kind of two plates of rusty metal sliding. Sometime when color wheel is not align you might feel a vibration if you put your hand on the back of TV near the lamp area, or on middle on top of TV.
The color Wheel will look something like this:

 There is a temp sensor near the lamp, where you can check continuity if its a open circuit (no continuity) you need to replace it.
Temp sensor will look like this:

 And lamp door sensor, check continuity with the switch at the ON position, if its a open circuit (no continuity) you need to replace it.
Lamp door sensor will look like this:

 If you dont have any of this symptoms you might have a DMD board issue, this board controls all this components and it haves the DLP Chip, a DMD will look like the last 2 pictures at this link:

Hope this info helps you and others :D
