Samsung 56 inch DLP three years old. Having white dots on screen. It was one then two.
Now it is ten white dots on screen. Does anyone know what this could be? My guess is bulbs.

Hello!
Are the dots uniform in any way? I do not think there is any way a lamp can cause this kind of distortion on your screen, this is most likely a DMD issue..
They are usually sold in complete light engines, and very easy to slide in / out...

If you have any images I can help troubleshoot further...

No the dots are spread out. you may have ten to fifteen on the left side of screen and have five on the right side of screen. They are all over screen.

this can be one of two , digital video board or DMD board, I am leaning more towards the DMD board... have you tried digital vx analog inputs? (i.e. HDMI vs coaxial)

No way is it a bulb nor a board malfunction. The spots are from the actual dlp CHIP that is located on the DMD board. These spots multiply like a virus once they start popping up. The problem is stuck mirrors inside the chip. Think of it as a computer. The DMD board is like the motherboard and the DLP chip is the processor. This chip, just like a computer processor chip, can be removed and replaced seperately from the DMD board. I think they are about $150 or so? It's not that bad of a install although you need to know the correct procedures and what screws to remove or else you can make the mistake of taking out the picture alignment screws or turn the focus ring. Then you will have some headaches...

If you like the TV and are tech savy then just wait for one on craigslist to have a lamp or other issue that doesn't correlate toward the Picture of the telivision. You can find steals on broken/ plagued sets... Just my 2cents...

What model is this? I have sucessfully accomplished this procedure on a HLT**76SX series sammy dlp, takes about an hour and a half.
