As we were watching tv we heard a pop then a really a constant loud noise and now the screen is black and white and the loud noise will not go away. Does anyone know what is the problem?

Dejavu
Hello!
sorry to hear that :( this is a simple fix however, It can be one of 3 consumable parts in your tv...
1- the most obvious and common is the Lamp, it will pop and maybe buzz when it does. have you removed it?
2- the colorwheel, when it shatters or malfunctions can give you a whirling or screeching sound.
3- highly unlikely in this case, but it powers up the lamp and can create a buzzing or clicking sound if it is not working properly or if the lamp is blown...

hope this helps! keep us posted

Thanks for the options. If the lamp went out would we still get a picture? If it is the color wheel where is it located in the tv, what does it look like, what does it cost to replace and how easy it it to replace?
