I own a Samsung DLP Model # HL56A650C1FXZA. I replaced the lamp recently, however I don't believe I needed to, I threw away the old lamp however, so there's no way to test for sure. I have been having issues with the tv coming on. When attempting to come on it makes a buzz/humming noise (almost two different buzzes), then a click, the lamp does not come on. It does this pattern 3 times then the 3 indicator lights flash. After being reset a few times by unplugging it, the TV has worked 2-3 times. So, it is not the Lamp causing the issue. When I unplug the tv and plug it back in, sometimes it powers itself on immediately to attempt to power up. If I leave it off or unplugged for long enough it doesn't attempt this auto power on. It doesn't turn off randomly once it has come on- it will stay on until I power it off. It's just the initial powering on sequence that it continually fails. I was told by a repairman that it is most likely the DMD Module- However, every time he was present to diagnose the tv it was working, so he's not 100% sure if it is the board.
I'm hoping that it's the ballast. However, I feel like some of the issues I have point to the ballast and some could point to the board. Is there any way to narrow it down 100%? If it's the ballast I'm going to try to replace it, if it's the board I'll probably just get a new tv.
HL56A650 issue, Ballast or DMD board?

Re: HL56A650 issue, Ballast or DMD board?
So I went out on a limb and assumed that my problem is most likely the ballast. I ordered it from DM and am waiting for it's arrival. Hopefully this will alleviate my problem!
Re: HL56A650 issue, Ballast or DMD board?
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.
After reading a few hundred posts.....lol......it seems like it could also be the Color wheel. However, if the color wheel is near it's end would it come on and stay on with a perfect picture once I'm able to get the TV to cycle on?

So, after taking the lamp out, holding the door switch and watching the inside during the 3 attempt cycles, the color wheel spins beautifully. From the first attempt it starts to spin and it stays spinning through all 3 attempt cycles. However, each attempt there's about 2 times you hear the buzz "*eeeeeeeeee.....beeeeeeeeee*". And every time that noise happens I see light (maybe spark) coming from what I believe is the ballast......that's the part which provides the red wires to connect to the lamp right? If so, then I'm convinced more than ever that it's the ballast. I would just like a little reassurance. :)

One more note.....lol......after doing all the inspecting on the inside, I put the lamp back in, put the door back and turned the tv on, and voila it came on.......what would cause it to come on once I took the lamp out and put it back in? I assume it will give me the same problem after it's been off again for a while.

Did you get your issue resolved? It would seem that my 6163W is doing the same as yours... Tried a new bulb. Considering a Ballast, but am hesitant because when I do get the bulb to come on, after a few minutes and it the screen/bulb go dark, the tv stops responding to remote of front panel commands (power). When I power it down... let it sit, them plug it back in... the TV powers up automatically.
