Falsificación de lámpara UHP PHILIPS

Cuidado!!!

We’ve got our hands on the lamp that sits in the latest line of JVC TVs for 2008…as we predicted, JVC has changed lamp manufactures. Philips and Philips Lighting has won the contract and for good reason!

Below are a few snapshots…as more information becomes available we will update this page.

Let us know if you have any information on compatibility, etc.

The new JVC replacement lamp, PK-CL120U, is currently compatible with all the latest 2008 model TVs, including the ultra slim:

HD-65S998 (65" HDILA D-ILA TV) Here’s the user manual for your conveience and reference
HD-58S998 (58" HDILEA D-ILA TV) Here’s the user manual for your conveience and reference

(Please note, the HD-70GC78, although a current generation model, it still uses the older TS-CL110UAA lamp and is not covered in this review)

These new 2008 models, first displayed at the Internation Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2008) are 40% thinner than the average rear projection TV, and actually 43% thinner than JVC’s own previous generation models which featured the TS-CL110UAA lamp. These new TVs are under 12" (actually 10.7" and 11.6" respectfully) and can be wall mounted thanks to the standard VESA mounting, as well as the attractive and sleek from bezel.

The new PK-CL120U user replacement lamp in these JVCs are made by Philips..

The new Ultra Slim TVs are 1080P HD-ILA with a new 2 Million Pixel Structure 0.7″ 3-Chip design. this is the 5th Generation D.I.S.T. with GENESSA and all feature Energy Star compliant circuitry.

Additional Features:
No hassle HD with built-in ATSC tuner and Clear QAM
User replaceable lamp (PK-CL120U)
Dual HDMI w/HDCP Digital Video Inputs

As you can see below, the new lamp is manufactured by Philips Lighting…this is a big positive move on the part of JVC to insure more reliable sets! No longer should JVC fans be discouraged by unreliable UHP lighting!

Philips 100W / 120W 1.0 lamp…

Note this UHP Philips lamp does not have a front glass and resembles more like a typical projector bulb with is small size.

 <a href="http://www.fixyourdlp.com/blog/pics/JVC/newlamp/DSC02069b.JPG" rel="lightbox[312]" target="_blank"rel="lightbox[jvc]">

This makes the lamp extremely sensative! If the filament is touched, that could be the end of your bulb…be careful!

Another view of the new Philips JVC Lamp

As you can see, the front cover extends out a bit and give the lamp a little bit of breathing room. The previous generation TVs using the TS-CL110UAA lamp featured a sealed UHP lamp. The new design should allow for better heat dissipation and longer life.

the bulb enclosure has a more aggressive look to it too..hehe..

JVC D-ILA TVs have a serious flaw… and actually, they’ve always had this flaw: the lamp. Millions of consumers purchased (and continue to do so), JVC D-ILA Projection TVs because of the outstanding picture quality. Compared side by side to Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, and the rest of the gang…these D-ILA TVs look amazing. The specifications are the state of the art, cosmetically they are beautiful, and they are among some of the lightest “projection” TVs on the marketplace. But they have a week point–the lamp.

The replacement lamp, part number TS-CL100UA, or TS-CL110UAA was originally reviewed by us a few years ago.

Ok, back to our story…

UHP lamps are still a relatively new technology. The first UHP lamp was created in Philips’s laboratory and went public in 1995. Since then, Philips has been making strides in improving the technology. Just like everything else, imitators entered the UHP market and competition was born. Today, we’ve got at least a dozen manufactures of UHP Lamps in the marketplace…normally the competition would be beneficial, but in this market it has created a lot of of controversy. All in all, we always stress to use a high quality lamps are replacements…the clear favorite is of course Philips UHP Lamps.

With all this said, we wanted to share our review of the Philips brand JVC TS-CL100UA Lamps. These are brand new to the marketplace but we’ve already “hot tested” three D-ILA TVs over the last three months.

The results are promising!

With over 2,200 hours clocked and counting, our Demo JVCs are processing Hi Def cartons mornings and nights. The picture is still as good as it was three months ago and most importantly, NO FAILED LAMPS!

NOTE: Testing UHP lamps “continuously” is only one way…the stress test is the REAL test…and we’re doing this as well. On a fourth JVC set, we are doing our stress sets which consists of 10 power cycles a day. The status so far after three months: TWO Thumbs UP!

How to identify a original Philips lamp? Well, clearly you would think it says Philips all over it…traditionally this is how it’s always been with Samsung, Hitachi, Sony, RCA and the various other brand name TVs that utilitize Philips UHP Lamps. In this case, we’re a bit preplexed. The lamp itself does not have any identifying markers on it. The traditional Philips stamp is no where to be seen! I don’t know if the units we’ve got our hands on are still pre-market versions of the lamps, but I would expect Philips to start badging these very soon! The only real way right now is to purchase from a trusted vender. We’ve always recommended our sponsar, Discount-Merchant.com, and they have this lamp available right now on their site: http://www.discount-merchant.com/
