Watch for the telltale signs that your BenQ 60.J5016.CB1 lamp needs replacing:

The color on the projector appear faded or the picture is distorted.

The BenQ PB7220 projector’s LED indicator light reds

Warning messages for lamp replacement also begin appearing on screen.

The BenQ 60.J5016.CB1 will run for 2000 hours before needing to be replaced.

Avoid counterfeit lamps

The Internet has been flooded with companies selling “compatible” projector lamps. At first glance generic compatible lamps seem like an incredible bargain. But when you factor in their shorter life spans and poor illumination along with other problems, these lamps actually end up costing more in the long run.

Be sure to install the proper type of BenQ 60.J5016.CB1 lamp. Even though they are cheaper in price, avoid buying generic knock-offs or lamps advertised as “compatible.” These lamps are prone to explosion and have been created using toxic substances such as Krypton-85.

Using a counterfeit generic lamp may result in poor illumination as well as malfunction of the sensitive components in your projector.

Installing a generic lamp will also void any warranty for your BenQ PB7220 projector. Save yourself unnecessary headaches and buy an authentic BenQ 60.J5016.CB1 lamp authentic from a recognized dealer. Learn the 7 Ways to spot a counterfeit lamp.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR SANYO PLC-XW10 LAMP REPLACEMENT

When the image on your Sanyo PLC-XW10 projector becomes extremely dark or an unnatural colour, it’s time to change the projector lamp. You’ll notice that Lamp Replacement Indicator on the top control panel will turn yellow.

The lifespan of your Sanyo PLC-XW10 projector lamp will vary depending on how much the projector is used and if the air filters are cleaned regularly.

You’ll need to install a new Sanyo POA-LMP31 (service parts no 610 289 8422) projector lamp.

Before installation:

Buy your Sanyo POA-LMP31 (610 289 8422) from an authorized manufacturer and avoid the lower-priced knock-off lamps. These knock-off lamps are usually made with counterfeit parts that are inferior and can damage the sensitive mechanisms in your Sanyo PLC-SW15 projector. They may end up costing you more if they damage your projector since they also void your waranty. Buying from a legitimate source keeps your projector under warranty and gives you a solid guarantee that the lamp you are installing is suitable for your projector.

Replacing the Sanyo POA-LMP31 Lamp Assembly

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the AC cord. Allow the Sanyo PLC-XW10 projector to cool to the touch. This can take between 45 to 60 minutes. Don’t open the projector when its still hot since these machines operate under high temperatures and you can burn yourself.

2. The lamp cover for the Sanyo PLC-XW10 is located at the bottom of the projector. Gently turn the projector over and loosen the screw holding the lamp cover. Remove the cover and put it to one side.

3. Inside you’ll find the SSanyo POA-LMP31 (service parts no 610 289 8422) lamp cage. Loosen both screws holding the lamp cage in place. Grab the handle on the lamp cage and gently lift the lamp out of its socket. Place to one side. Be sure to dispose the used lamp properly through a local recycling program.

4.

Please read carefully!

FixYourDLP.com has identified a potential hazard that may severely damage your Samsung TV with lamp code BP96-01653A!

Samsung DLP lamp units, model BP96-01653A may fail due to improper insertion. We discovered this while doing some tests on these enclosures. If you don’t install the BP96-01653A firmly into the TV, the housing connector may cause damage to both the ballast and the lamp—or even worse a fire.

You’ll know immediately if there’s something wrong because as soon as you turn your television on, and there’s white smoke emanating from the back of your television.

You should shut your television off immediately and open your lamp door and pull out that lamp. Inspect it and hopefully, you’ve just burned the connectors to the ballast, and not the ballast itself. Our testing has only caused the connectors to burn or melt, but don’t take any chances—we’ve never seen a fire, but we also don’t rule out the possibility of fires either.

Here is a correct installation method and the reasons why a bad installation will cause the connectors to burn:

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING

Regarding the installation of a BP96-01653A lamp unit into a Samsung DLP Television.

Installation

Step 1

Figure A – Open panel, lamp unit removed

You must install the lamp unit to fit snug with the ballast connector.

To do this, align the lamp unit with the female ballast connector facing down, on the bottom side of the enclosure, then slide the lamp unit until it snaps into place. Check to make sure the unit is firmly inside the television.

Step 2

Figure B – Snapping the lamp into place

Snap the wire brackets in tightly by lifting the bottom set up to meet with the top bracket. The wire bracket keeps the lamp and lamp enclosure seated properly to reduce the risk of fire.

when installed properly, the unit should sit secure and slightly elevated from the floor of the compartment.

Step 3

Figure C – Close back panel securely

Once the lamp is firmly secure, close the back panel to engage the blue lamp door sensor switch. Leaving the door open will prevent the television from starting up.

Important Damage or Fire Warning

Because of the nature of the ballast or lamp driver, there is a risk of damage or fire to your television set.

The ballast ignites the lamp with up to 20kV of electricity to arc the gas tube inside. If the ballast does not have a firm connection with the lamp unit, the arc will occur between the ballast connectors (from the ballast to the lamp), which may cause a fire, or melt your plastic connectors. Indications of this are a rapid clicking sound, a burning smell, and/or a non-functioning lamp. If you improperly install the lamp into your television causing a ballast or lamp failure, this may void your warranty for the television or the lamp product.

Besserer Ruf? Besserer Preis? Was auch immer!

The importance of authentic

It’s important that you install an OEM lamp and avoid a generic, compatible lamp.

Knock-off, compatible generic lamps may seem like a bargain in the beginning. They actually cost more in the long run since they can damage the color wheel and ballast mechanisms in your RPTV. They also give off poor light, are prone to messy explosions and actually have a shorter life.

We recommend purchasing from an Authorized Philips dealer such as Discount-Merchant.com to insure that you are receiving a genuine Philips brand replacement lamp. Beware of knock-off and counterfeit Philips lamps floating around in the market.

There are also health concerns associated with these lamps. Generic lamps are made with toxic substances that can compromise your family’s health. Read more about the dangers of Krypton-85.

When you purchase an OEM replacement lamps you’re guaranteed the best lamp for your RPTV.

Hi everyone,

Descrition of problem:
The noise from the video is consistent (in duration and sound), and it happens every 6 or 7 times the set is powered up. If it is one of those times it makes the noise at start-up, it also makes a quick “cough” at shut-down (one quick burst of the noise in the video).

Aside from this noise, the set works/functions perfectly as far as I can tell (even during the times it makes the noise on startup, everything seems fine once the noise stops). It appears to me that the brightness level/output may be lower when the noise happens, but I cannot be 100% sure of that. Best Buy had sent out a very poorly trained technician at one point who thought the noise may have been the color wheel, but he disconnected the color wheel and was still able to recreate the sound. The only way to reliably recreate the sound is to go into the Service Menu and adjust the DB Gain setting – if I do that and jog the value up/down, eventually I hear this same noise.

I think an important thing to note is that there’s no middle-ground on this noise; it either completely makes the exact same noise on start-up, or it starts up/shuts down whisper-quiet. There’s never just “a little bit” of the noise.

This behavior started after a tech had come to fix an “image flickering” issue in November 2007; at that time, she replaced the ballast and the Dynamic Black Assembly. The flickering went away, but this intermittent noise began. I contacted Best Buy and got a replacement lamp sent out to me to see if that was the issue, but the noise still happens with the new lamp.

My gut says this is an issue with the Dynamic Black assembly, but I want to be sure it’s that if I get someone to come out and replace it again (I really want to avoid a whole LE replacement, as the set is calibrated).

Any thoughts?

I’ve got a Samsung HLP5063W in service since January 2005 with 10,600 hours on the original lamp (smaller square lamp). About a month ago it started shutting down about 1-2 times a week. It came right back up when turned back on. This week, it’s shutting off every 20-40 minutes. It comes back up instantly when re-powered. All through-out this, the picture has been crystal clear, so I wonder if it is really the lamp that needs to be replaced.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks, Bill.
