Hi Pop,
Scroll down the article and there is a section where you can see how to reset the lamp timer:
1. Turn the Sanyo PLC-XU300 projector projector on.
2. Press the Menu option to display the On-Screen Menu.
3. Scroll down to the Setting option. Select Lamp Control.
4. A second screen will appear.
5. Press Point left/right button(s) to move to move the red frame pointer to Lamp counter reset.
6. Press the Select button.
7. The timer will be reset to zero and the projector will turn back on.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Hi Don,
Original OES lamps with the housing are always the best choice. I’ve updated the blog to reflect this. Thanks for the input.
Cheers,

The lamp has lamp hours counter chip, which is impossible to reset – it is a microcontroller and hard reset clears the software. You can use the new lamp without counter chip, but the projector will operate in eco mode 1 and will not count the real hours. I recommend to buy a new original lamp with housing (with a new counter chip)

Hi MP,
You would Press the MENU button to display the On-Screen Menu, Scroll down to Lamp life control
Select the lamp operation when the total lighting time of alamp exceeds the recommended total hours of use.
Mode 1 ………….. A lamp can be turned on even afterexceeding the recommended total hours of use.
Mode 2 ………….. A lamp can be turned on even after exceeding the recommended total hours of use. But the projector turns off automatically after 3 minutes.
• Lamp mode cannot be changed for a while after turning on the projector. Lamp needs some time to stabilize after the power is turned on. Stored lamp mode will be
active after the lamp is stabilized.
• If Mode 2 has been selected and the projection lamp exceedes the recommended total hours of use, the replacement icon will be displayed at the time of power-
on. Then the projector will turn off after 3 minutes.
Lamp replacement icon
• The Lamp replacement icon will not appear when the Display function is set to Off (p.46), during Freeze

Hi MP,
This may have to do with your settings. When Mode 2 is selected in the Lamp life control menu, if the projection lamp of the projector reaches its
end of life, the lampreplacement icon appears on the screen, and the projector is turned off automatically after 3 minutes. The Lamp replacement icon will not appear when the Display function is set to Off. Here is the manual link for more information. Have you thought about joining our forum where there are more experts that can help you out. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/148945/Sanyo-Plc-Xu300.html?page=11#manual
