- needle nose pliers or a 5mm nut driver
- antistatic gloves OR plastic gloves used with an antistatic wrist band

Replacing the 4719-001997 DLP Chip

4719-001997 DLP Chip, Samsung HLT5676SX RPTV

Step 1

Step 1: Put on the plastic gloves. Loosen all the screws found on the back panel. Put the screws to one side and remove the back panel.

Step 2

Step 2: Loosen the two screws holding the lamp bracket in place.

Step 3

Step 3: Remove the 4 screws holding the lamp engine in place. Disconnect all the connectors. Important: don’t yank any cables.

Step 4

Step 4: Carefully remove light engine from the cabinet.

Step 5

Step 5: Remove the 2 screws holding the color wheel protective cover in it place. Avoid touching any of the optical components as this can affect the quality of your picture.

Step 6

Step 6: Carefully disconnect the cables between the terminal board and lamp.

Step 7

Step 7: Disconnect the clip connecting the cooling unit.

Step 8

Step 8: Remove the cooling unit and terminal board.

Step 9

Step 9: Remove the terminal board.

Step 10

Step 10: Loosen the 7 screws holding the terminal cover in place. (Good time to dust this section).

Step 11

Step 11: Carefully pop the terminal out of its holder.

Step 12

Step 12: Unlock the old DLP Chip from the terminal. You may need to use a flat edged screwdriver to pop it out.

Step 13

Step 13: Place the new DLP chip into place. Handle the DMD DLP CHIP only by the edges because it is very sensitive to static electricity.

Step 14

Step 14: Put the terminal back into its holder.

Step 15

Step 15: Tighten the 7 screws holding the terminal in place.

Step 16

Step 16: Replace the terminal board’s cover.

Step 17

Step 17: Reconnect the clip holding the cooling unit.

Step 18

Step 18: Re-connect the cables between the terminal board and lamp.

Step 19

Step 19: Tighten the 2 screws holding the color wheel protective cover in it place. Avoid touching any of the optical components as this can affect the quality of your picture.

Step 20

Step 20: Carefully replace the light engine back into the cabinet.

Step 21

Step 21: Replace and tighten the 4 screws holding the lamp engine in place. Re-connect all the connectors.

Step 22

Step 22: Put the light engine back into the RPTV. Tighten both screws that keep the back bracket in place.

Step 23

Step 23: Put the back panel onto the TV. Put the screws back into place and tighten them. Enjoy the crisp, clear picture on your Samsung HLT5676SX/XAA RPTV.

Follow our guide to replace the BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp in your BenQ PB8240 projector in 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Be prepared — buy an authentic projector lamp

Be ready to replace the lamp by first buying the correct BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp for your BenQ PB8240 projector.

At first glance, a generic compatible projector lamp seems like an incredible bargain. But when you factor in their shorter life spans and poor illumination along with other problems, these lamps actually end up costing more in the long run. These are NOT authentic lamps and should be avoided for the following reasons:

shorter lamp life than original lamps
toxic materials and carcinogenic parts including Krypton-85
prone to explosions
incompatibility causing damage to the sensitive electronics in your projectors
no guarantee or refunds – you’re on your own to get a refund from the company when you buy from a reseller

Step 2: Know when to replace the projector lamp

You can expect up to 3000 hours with a new BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp IF you buy from an authentic OEM from an authorized dealer.

Warning Messages

First warning: The BenQ 65.J4002.001 has been in operation for 1980 hours. If the projector is being run in Economic Mode you may continue until the second warning at 2980 hours at which time a second warning will appear.

Second warning : The BenQ PB8240 projector power will shutdown in 20 hours time. Replace the BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp immediately.

Final warning: This message will flash in the screen’s center at 3000 hours and the Lamp Indicator will light up red for 40 seconds before the BenQ PB8240 projector shuts down. The projector will not turn on until the BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp has been replaced.

Step 3: Replace the BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp

Before changing the lamp:

Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the BenQ PB8240 projector.
Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes.

Turn the power off and disconnect the BenQ PB8240 projector.

The lamp cover is found on the bottom of the projector. Turn the projector over and loosen the two screws holding the BenQ PB8240 lamp cover in place. (Use a magnetic screwdriver to make the whole process easier.)

Loosen the screw on the BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp.

Grab the wire handle on the BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp so it lifts up. Slowly and gently pull theBenQ 59.J8101.CG1 lamp out of the projector. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn what to do should the bulb shatter.
Avoid touching the optical components inside the projector as this can leave marks on the lenses causing image distortion and unwanted color changes.

Insert the new BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp making sure the handle is fully locked. Tighten the screw. If the screw is too loose or too tight, the projector may not turn on.
Re-install the BenQ PB8240 lamp cover and tighten the screw.
Reset the total lamp operation timer.

NOTE: The BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).

Reset the projector lamp counter

It’s important to only reset the lamp timer when the BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp has been replaced. Resetting the lamp timer without changing the BenQ 65.J4002.001 lamp can cause significant harm to your BenQ PB8240 projector.

Press and hold EXIT button on the projector for 3 seconds to display the total used lamp time.
Press MENU on either the projector or on the remote control. Scroll down to the LAMP HOUR TIMER. An adjustment message will appear.
Press MENU to reset the lamp hours.
Press EXIT.

You can expect up to 3000 hours of lamp life before the BenQ PB8140 projector lamp needs to be replace.

You’ll start to notice warning signs as the lamp starts to reach end of life.

Warning signs

Your first warning to replace the BenQ PB8140 projector lamp will show up when the lamp has been in operation for 1980 hours. If the projector is being run in Economic Mode you may continue until the second warning at 2980 hours at which time a second warning will appear.

The second warning will let you know that the power will shutdown in 20 hours time. Replace the BenQ PB8140 projector lamp immediately.

The final warning will flash in the center of the BenQ PB8140 screen at 3000 hours and the Lamp Indicator will light up red for 40 seconds before the BenQ PB8140 projector shuts down. The projector will not turn on until the lamp has been replaced.

Authentic lamps are important

Your BenQ PB8140 projector is a sophisticated machine with sensitive electronic components. The BenQ 65.J4002.001 projector lamp has been designed specifically to keep your projector operating at optimum levels. Generic “compatible” lamps are made with copycat technology that use inferior and often toxic materials.

Knock-off manufacturers don’t possess the proper technology to create these lamps and as a result these lamps have a shorter lamp life, are prone to explosions and can seriously damage your projector. Installing them cancels your warranty leaving your vulnerable should anything go wrong. It’s not worth the small savings. How to replace the BenQ PB8140 projector lamp

Sometimes things don’t go as planned after installing a new projector lamp. Here are the solutions to the six most common projector problems.

Problem #1: My projector won’t turn on after I’ve installed my new lamp.

Solution: Check the power cord, lamp cover and lamp connections.

Before contacting customer service, be sure to first check that the projector power cord is plugged in and properly secured. Check the back lamp cover – if it’s loose the projector won’t turn on. If this doesn’t solve the problem, then open up the lamp cover and check the lamp connections. If the screws are too loose or too tight, the projector will not turn on.

Problem #2: My projector is getting too hot after replacing the lamp

Solution: Clean your air filters and ventilation holes.

The main reason a projector starts to heat up is because the air filters or ventilation holes are clogged with dust or other debris. DLP projectors operate at high heat and most have one or more fans that blow air around the components to cool them off. A build up of dust prevents proper air circulation and can cause the projector to become very hot and the lamp to explode. When this happens, the projector temperature controls will go off. Always clean your filters after replacing the projector lamp. Use a can of compressed air and blow filters and ventilation holes dust free.

Problem #3: The picture is fine but the onscreen message says to replace the lamp even though it’s new!

Solution: You need to reset the lamp timer.

Your projector has a Lamp Timer or Lamp Hour Counter that automatically tracks lamp usage. It’s been designed to send you warning messages on screen and to trigger the Lamp Indicator when the projector lamp is approaching end of life. Many projectors will turn off automatically when the end of lamp hours has been reached – whether the lamp is new or not. Always reset your lamp timer after replacing the lamp. Problem #4: The picture is much dimmer.

Solution: Re-install the new bulb or replace the generic lamp previously installed.

This problem usually only happens when you have replaced only the bulb and not the entire housing. Check to make sure the bulb has been installed correctly. Purchasing a bare bulb is an economical option but you have to make sure it’s been installed properly. It should be flush with the front of the lamp housing cage and the new bulb should sit exactly in the same placement as the old bulb. If the new bulb is off center or not aligned properly your image will be dim. Removing the bulb and re-installing it more carefully should take care of a dim picture.

Problem #5: Projector turns on for a minute and then shuts off.

Solution: Clean the fans and filters. Replace the generic lamp.

Projectors will turn themselves off automatically if they detect any problems. Cleaning the projector of all dust and dirt will make the components work together in harmony. If dust is not the problem, then it’s the actual lamp. Have you installed a genuine OEM projector lamp? Generic, compatible lamps don’t operate properly in most projectors causing them to out of balance. This will make the projector shut down automatically. The solution for this problem is to replace the generic lamp with a genuine OEM lamp.

Problem #6: The screen color is wrong and the picture is flickering.

Solution: Your color wheel may need to be replaced.

Usually the color is off with an older, dimmer lamp. However, since the projector lamp only has one color – white – the problem is usually with the internal optics. The color wheel or other optical components may have been damaged while the lamp was being replaced. Also installing generic lamps can damage the sophisticated and sensitive components such as the color wheel and DLP chip. The only solution for this problem is to contact a service rep.

Step 19: Tighten the 2 screws holding the color wheel protective cover in it place. Avoid touching any of the optical components as this can affect the quality of your picture.

Step 20: Carefully replace the light engine back into the cabinet.

Step 21: Replace and tighten the 4 screws holding the lamp engine in place. Re-connect all the connectors.

Step 22: Put the light engine back into the RPTV. Tighten both screws that keep the back bracket in place.

How to replace the BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp

Note: These instructions are also compatible for the BenQ PB7000, BenQ PB7105, BenQ PB7205, BenQ PB7225, BenQ PE8250 projectors.

Before installing: Disconnect the power cord and allow the projector to cool for one hour before replacing the lamp. The BenQ PB7230 projector operates under high heat and can cause burns if it’s not cooled down enough.

The lamp lid for the BenQ PB7230 is found on the bottom of the projector. Be sure to protect the top of the projector before turning it over to access the BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp.

Loosen the screw holding the BenQ PB7230 lamp cover in place. Using a magnetic screwdriver will make removal easier and guarantee you won’t lose any of the screws.

Remove the BenQ PB7230 projector lid and place it to one side.
Keep the screws altogether.

Remove the screw holding the BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp in out of the projector. Be sure to dispose of the used BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp through a local recycling program. Don’t throw this lamp into regular garbage as it contains mercury.

Inset the new BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp all the way into the BenQ PB7230 projector.
Tighten the screws holding the BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp in place.
Replace the lid on the BenQ PB7230. You’re now ready to reset the lamp timer.

NOTE: The BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps!

Resetting the lamp timer

In order for the BenQ PB7230 to correctly track the lamp life of your newly installed BenQ 60.J3503.CB1 lamp, you’ll need to reset the lamp timer.

Press the Exit button on the projector for 3 seconds to display the total used lamp time.
