STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR SANYO PLC-XU51 LAMP REPLACEMENT

Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector

When it’s time to change your projector lamp on either your Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector, you’ll notice a yellow light blinking on the Top Control panel. This is the lamp replacement indicator letting you know it;s to replace your Sanyo POA-LMP55 (service part no 610 309 2706) projector lamp.

It’s important the buy only a genuine POA-LMP55 to replace the old lamp. The price of counterfeit knock-off lamps may be tempting but can cost you more money in the long run. Counterfeit lamps are not manufactured according to Sanyo’s specifications and can damage the sensitive (and expensive) mechanisms in your Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector.

Replacing the Sanyo POA-LMP107 (610 330 4564) lamp

Before installation of the Sanyo POA-LMP55 (service part no 610 309 2706) lamp: Turn off the projector and unplug the AC cord. Allow the Sanyo PLC-XW50/PLC-XW55 projector to cool for one hour – it should be cool to the touch. Inside of the projector can be very hot since these machines operator under high temperatures.

Caution: Don’t touch the screen or the actual bulb with your finger since the oil from your skin can cause a black spot on the bulb.

1. Underneath the Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector you’ll find the Lamp Hazard cover. Gently turn it upside down protecting the top of the projector. Using a Philips screwdriver loosen the screw holding the cover in place. Put the cover to one side.

2. Remove the two screws on either side of each the Sanyo POA-LMP55 (service part no 610 309 2706) lamp. Grab the handle on the lamp cage and gently pull out the lamp. Place to one side.

3. Take the new Sanyo POA-LMP55 (610-309-2706) lamp cage by the handle and gently maneuver it into place.

4. Avoid touching the glass or the bulb. The lamp should slide in easily – don’t force it. Once the lamp is in, tighten the screws on the Lamp Assembly.

5. Replace the Lamp Hazard Cover and tighten the screw.

6. Re-connect the power cord and turn on the Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector.

Resetting the Lamp Replacement counter on the Sanyo PLC-XU51

Reset the Lamp Replacement Counter only when the Sanyo POA-LMP55 (service part no 610 309 2706) lamps has been replaced.

Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

Turn the Sanyo PLC-XU51 projector on.
Press the Menu option to display the On-Screen Menu.
Press Point left/right button(s) to move a red frame poster to Setting Menu icon.
Press Point Down button to move the red frame pointer to Lamp counter reset.
Press the Select button.
Another confirmation dialog box appears, select YES.
The Lamp box will disappear and the Lamp Replace Dialog box appears.
Select YES to reset Lamp Replace Counter.

NOTE: When you reset the Lamp Replace Counter the Lamp Replace indicator stops lighting.

Grab the lamp handle and gently lift the lamp out of its socket. Place to one side. Be sure to dispose of the used lamp through a local recycling program. Don’t throw this lamp into regular garbage as it contains mercury.
Place the new Sanyo POA-LMP55 into the slot using the handle and not touching the actual bulb.
Once the lamp is in, tighten both screws on the Sanyo POA-LMP55 (6103092706) lamp assembly. Make sure the screws have been tightened properly or the Sanyo PLC-XU50 / PLC-XU55 projector will not turn on.
Replace the Lamp Cover and tighten the screw. Re-connect the power cord and turn on the Sanyo PLC-XU50 / PLC-XU55 projector. If the Sanyo POA-LMP55 (service part no 610 309 2706) lamp does not turn on after the warm-up period, try re-installing the lamp.
Reset the Lamp Replace Counter following the instructions below.

Press the MENU Button to display the MAIN MENU. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button and scroll right to select SETTING.
Press the SELECT button to display the SETTING DISPLAY menu.
Press the POINT DOWN button (a red arrow will appear).
Move the red arrow to the LAMP AGE and then press the SELECT button.

Turning the projector off immediately before waiting without a five minute cooling off period, leaving the projector running without at least one hour of rest in a 24 hour period and letting the air filter become clogged with dust will shorten the life of the Sanyo POA-LMP53 (service part no 610 303 5826) projector lamp.

You can also expect an authentic projector lamp to last longer since it’s been manufactured with top quality materials and parts. 1. Turn off the projector and unplug the AC cord. Allow the Sanyo PLC-XU40 projector to cool to the touch. This can take between 45 to 60 minutes. Don’t open the projector when its still hot since these machines operate under high temperatures and you can burn yourself.

2. The lamps cover for the Sanyo PLC-XU40 is at the back of the projector. Loosen the two screws holding the cover in place. Place the cover to one side.

3. Inside you’ll find the Sanyo POA-LMP53 (service part no 610 303 5826). lamp cage. Loosen both screws holding the lamp cage in place. Grab the handle on the lamp cage and gently lift the lamp out of its socket. Place to one side. Be sure to dispose of the lamp properly through a local recycling program.

4. Take the new Sanyo POA-LMP53 (610 303 5826) lamp cage by the handle—avoid touching the lamp surface as oil from your fingers can cause black spots to appear when the projector is turned on. Gently maneuver the lamp into place. Don’t force the lamp as this may damage it.

5. Once the lamp is in, tighten all both screws on the Sanyo POA-LMP53 Lamp Assembly. Make sure the screws have been tightened properly or the Sanyo PLC-XU40 projector will not turn on. Replace the Lamp Cover and tighten the screw.

6. Re-connect the power cord and turn on the Sanyo PLC-XU40. If the lamp does not turn on after the warm-up period, try re-installing the lamp. Reset the lamp hour using the Lamp Control counter found on the Setting menu.

NOTE: Your old lamp should be properly recycled. These lamps contain mercury and can’t be placed into common garbage.

RESETTING THE SANYO PLC-XU40 LAMP REPLACE COUNTER

You need to reset the Lamp replace counter so the Lamp Notification system will have the same timeline as the newly installed Sanyo POA-LMP53 (service part no 610 303 5826) lamp.

NOTE: RESET the Lamp Replac eCounter ONLY WHEN the lamp has been REPLACED.

Press the MENU Button to display the MAIN MENU.
Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button and scroll right to select SETTING.
Press the SELECT button to display the SETTING DISPLAY menu.
Press the POINT DOWN button (a red arrow will appear)
Move the red arrow to the LAMP AGE and then press the SELECT button.
The message “Lamp replace counter reset?” appears. Move the arrow down to YES and press the SELECT button.
The message “OK?” appears. Click on YES.
Move the arrow to QUIT and press the SELECT button.

Extend the life of the Sanyo POA-LMP53 (610-303-5826) projector lamp

Wait at least five minutes before turning the Sanyo PLC-XU40 projector off.

3. Take the new Sanyo POA-LMP63 (service parts no 610 304 5214) lamp cage by the handle and gently maneuver it into place.

4. Avoid touching the glass or the bulb. The lamp should slide in easily – don’t force it. Once the lamp is in, tighten the three screws on the Lamp Assembly.

5. Replace the Lamp Hazard Cover and tighten the screw.

6. Re-connect the power cord and turn on the Sanyo PLC-XU45 projector.

Resetting the Lamp Replace counter on the Sanyo PLC-XU45 Projector

Reset the Lamp Replace Counter only when the Sanyo POA-LMP63 (service parts no 610 304 5214) lamp has been replaced.

Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

Make sure the Sanyo PLC-XU45 projector is turned on.
Press the Menu option to display the On-Screen Menu.
Press Point left/right button(s) to move a red frame poster to Setting Menu icon.
Press the black arrow point button to move the red framed pointer to the Setting Menu Icon.
Press Point Down button to move the red frame pointer to Lamp counter reset.
Press the Select button.
Another confirmation dialog box appears, select YES.
The Lamp box will disappear and the Lamp Replace Dialog box appears.
Select YES to reset Lamp Replace Counter.

NOTE: When you reset the Lamp Replace Counter the Lamp Replace indicator stops lighting.
