Installing the new Mitsubishi 915B455011 / 915B455A11

Before installation: Turn off the TV and allow it to cool for one hour. Failure to do so can put you at risk of burning yourself since the Mitsubishi WD-82742 operates under high heat.

TIP: Use a pair of rubber gloves during installation. These lamps contain mercury, which may end up on your skin. Don’t touch the lamp glass with bare hands as the oil form your fingers may cause premature lamp failure.

After TV has cooled, turn the TV around to access the lamp cover located at the back of the Mitsubishi WD-82742 RPTV.

Using a #2 Philips screwdriver, loosen the screw holding the cover in place. Put the cover to one side.

Loosen the screw securing the lamp cartridge, releasing it from the mating threads. This is a captive screw so it will not be separated the lamp cartridge.)
When the screw is loosened, gently grasp the handle on the lamp cartridge and pull the lamp straight out. DO NOT TILT, as there may be glass fragments that will fall inside the TV.
If this happens, carefully pick up the larger shards wearing rubber gloves. Take a cloth just damp enough to pick up the small shreds. It’s important to pick up the broken lamps since this lamps does have mercury. Read more about proper clean-up from the EPA.

Take out the bag supplied with your new lamp and open it up. You’ll store the old lamp in this bag.
Put the old lamp gently into the opened bag. Close the bag.
Gently slide in the new Mitsubishi 915B455011 / 915B455A11 Lamp into the slot, making sure not to tile the lamp.
Tighten the screw in the lamp.
Replace the cover on the Mitsubishi WD-82742 and tighten the screws.

Step-by-step instructions

Before installation:

Turn off the projector and unplug the AC cord.
Allow the Epson EH-TW5500 to cool for one hour – it should be cool to the touch. Inside of the projector can be very hot since these machines operator under high temperatures and you run the risk of being burned if the projector has not cooled down.
Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.

3. Pull the lamp out using the top handle. Be sure to pull it out straight. Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn what to do should the bulb shatter.

NOTE: The Epson ELPLP49 lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!

4, Take the new Epson ELPLP49 lamp by the handle and gently put it into place making sure the lamp is facing in the right direction.

5. Replace the Epson ELPLP49 screws on the newly installed lamp.

6. Re-connect the lamp cover. Tighten the screws on the cord and turn on the Epson EH-TW3600 projector.

7. Re-attach the power cord. Turn the projector on and let it warm up.

8. Reset the Lamp Operating time.

Step 3: Reset the Epson EH-TW3600 Lamp Timer

Reset the Epson EH-TW3600 Lamp Replacement Counter only when the Epson ELPLP49 lamp has been replaced.

Turn the Epson EH-TW3600 projector on.
Press MENU to display the configuration menu.
Press the down arrow to move down the menu to the Reset option.

Press Enter to enter the Reset Menu.
Press the down arrow to move down the menu to the Reset Lamp Hours option.
Press Enter.

When the Reset Lamp Hour option has been chosen the Reset Lamp Hours message will appear.
Use the cursor to move to the YES option.
Press Enter to reset the lamp hours to zero.

Extend the life of the newly installed Epson ELPLP49 with the following tips:

Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
Turn off the Epson EH-TW3600 and let it stand for at least one hour ever 24 hours. An average use of four to five hours per day will ensure longer lamp life.
Make sure there is enough airflow around the projector particularly if it’s been permanently mounted.

Watch for the telltale signs of a dimmer picture on the Mitsubishi screen or colours that appear off.

When the Mitsubishi 915B455011/915B455A11 lamp is no longer working the Status Light on the front of the Mitsubishi RPTV will begin blinking red.

When the TV is operating normally, this indicator will not be lit. When has turned RED, the lamp has burnt out and since this is the only source of light for the RPTV, it will not turn on. Replace the Mitsubishi 915B455011/915B455A11 lamp immediately.

When it comes to replacing the lamp in your Rear Projector TV (RPTV) lamp, you’ll want to protect your investment and buy from a certified manufacturer or reseller.

It may be tempting to buy a generic replacement off the Internet but they may end up costing you more in the long run. Many of these generic brands are priced lower because they’ve been manufactured with inferior or even counterfeit parts. The initial savings upfront may not be worth it if your projector ends up being damaged.

The subtle technology of RPTV lamps

On the surface generic brands may appear to be the same but their technology is actually quite different from the official brand lamp manufactured by Philips Lighting. RPTVs use high pressure to generate light and this pressure needs to be controlled inside the lamp. Authentic projector lamps have been calibrated to the exact wattage in order to control the pressure. Too high a pressure may result in the lamp exploding and damaging the inside of your RPTV. 3 steps to a new Mitsubishi WD-82642 RPTV lamp

Step 1: Know when to replace

The first indication that the Mitsubishi Mitsubishi 915B455011 / 915B455A11 lamp needs to be replaced is a picture that is becoming dimmer.

When you see the RED light on the front control panel on your Mitsubishi WD-82642 RPTV, it’s also time to replace the lamp immediately.

Installing the new Mitsubishi 915B455011 / 915B455A11

Before installation: Turn off the TV and allow it to cool for one hour. Failure to do so can put you at risk of burning yourself since the Mitsubishi WD-82642 operates under high heat.

After TV has cooled, turn the TV around to access the lamp cover located at the back of the Mitsubishi WD-82642 RPTV.

Using a #2 Philips screwdriver, loosen the screw holding the cover in place. Put the cover to one side.

Loosen the screw securing the lamp cartridge, releasing it from the mating threads. This is a captive screw so it will not be separated the lamp cartridge.)
When the screw is loosened, gently grasp the handle on the lamp cartridge and pull the lamp straight out. DO NOT TILT, as there may be glass fragments that will fall inside the TV.
If this happens, carefully pick up the larger shards wearing rubber gloves. Take a cloth just damp enough to pick up the small shreds. It’s important to pick up the broken lamps since this lamps does have mercury. Read more about proper clean-up from the EPA.

Take out the bag supplied with your new lamp and open it up. You’ll store the old lamp in this bag.
Put the old lamp gently into the opened bag. Close the bag.
Gently slide in the new Mitsubishi 915B455011 / 915B455A11 Lamp into the slot, making sure not to tile the lamp.
Tighten the screw in the lamp.
Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
