picture flicker then tv shuts off

hi i have a 51" samsung dlp tv just recently it has started acting up. When i turn it on everything is normal but after about an hour the picture begins to flicker then the tv shuts off and all three lights flash. If i let it sit for about 20-30 minutes i can turn it back on and repeat the process. I dont want to buy a color wheel if that is not the problem. And it doesn't make any loud noises like i have read about with bad color wheel can someone help me?
