I recently bought a lamp from Discount Merchant for this TV on March 23, 2011. Everything worked great until about a month ago when the TV wouldn't turn on.
From the back - I hear a buzzing noise which happens in a pattern. It buzzes twice, then stops and buzzes twice again. I see the fan start - then stops. I also see light emitting from the ballast, but no light from the lamp. All three lights on the front come on after a few unsuccessful attempts.
I opened the back of the TV and took out the sliding tray to examine the ballast. I also gave everything a good dusting with compressed air.
My question - do you think it's the ballast or the lamp again? I'd hate to buy one and its the other.
