RCA HDLP50W151 Vertical Black Lines

Postby Coachie » Sun Aug 02, 2009 8:48 pm

Hello, I recently inherited an HDLP50W151. When I first turn the TV on, the picture is great. However, as it warms up, I see thin vertical black lines approximately an inch apart across the whole screen. I've searched and searched, but can't seem to find anyone else with this problem. The color wheel is being a little loud, so it may need to be replaced. The problem is I'm hesitant to spend $200.00 on a color wheel if there is a more extensive problem somewhere else. Thanks for any help, Vince

Hi Vince.

Do those lines show over the menu as well? If so the problem is the DMD board.

The color wheel is definitely not causing this issue.

The lines were through the menus, but have since gone away. However, now I'm left with a super high contrast any time there is focused light/bright colors. For instance, if someone is being interviewed, the light reflected off their forehead is super bright, and pixelated. Do you know if it's even still possible/cost effective to find a DMD board for these TV'S?

Do you have the part number? You can take it from the board.
