We replaced the bulb in the TV and now the 'red light" for the lamp is coming on and the TV turned off. What do we do??

This is most commonly one of 2 things, Lamp or Ballast.
Since your lamp is new, do you know if this is a name brand lamp? like Philips or Osram?
If it is (since these have virtually no defect ratio) then I would suggest the ballast, Mitsubishi DLPs are notorious for a weak ballast.
If your lamp has no name brand I suggest you find one online ;) and return the other one. This happens more than you think with knock offs!
