Blown Capacitor Lamp/Ballast circuit board

Postby sshornets10 » Tue Aug 25, 2015 1:15 pm

My DLP HLR 5067w was cutting on then off. I notice there was a bad capacitor on the lamp/Ballast circuit board. Instead of replacing the capacitor, I replaced the ballast. TV worked fine for about 48 hrs. Started cutting off again. Once again the same capacitor was blown. What could be causing this problem? Help

Hello,

If the same capacitor has blown on both ballasts you could be having a problem with your power supply. The ballast board should be receiving 350 volts from the power supply. You can confirm this using a multi meter. If the voltage is higher than that you will more likely need to replace the power supply. Hope this helps and please do advise of any other questions.
