Re: Blu-ray player software and drive recommendation
I just upgraded my laptop to one and it was a nightmare since i purchased it on eBay.com without the installation CD!!!
Let me explain that Sony's licensing on Blu-ray is insane, and it means it's almost impossible to play Blu-rays on your computer with something just plug and play! Luckily Windows is the only operating system that can play them back without much hassle. There are 2 things I would want to know before suggesting anything:
1- What kind of PC, specs (hardware/OS) will you be installing this on?
2- If you haven't purchased yet, which models did you have in mind?
I ask this because most new or in box drives come with a drive installation disc and this will be usually be bundled with something like "Cyberlink PowerDVD" which retails like $50 when purchased alone! and secondly I want to make sure your PC has the power to run a smooth picture!
Happy Holidays!
