dark shadows

Postby Choochie » Mon Apr 13, 2009 4:47 pm

I have a Zenith/ LG plasman model P42W46X. The picture went dark with shadows. I'm told this is usually a ZSUS board. The top fuse on the board is blown. Put in another and it popped immediately. Checked the voltage coming in noted as 15V. It is 21V. So, I assume the ZSUS board is bad, but wonder if there is another problem given the high voltage. Is 21V ok? I was thinking of ordering a new ZSUS, but don't know if this is old model is worth two boards. Looking for some help. Thanks.

a y-sustain or z-sustain board may be the culprit here. The best thing to do is also take out the x-sustain board and check to see if it looks damaged in any way and test it with a multimeter. Test for continuity first and see if there is anything burned on the board. If you want to go the cheap route without hiring a specialist, maybe try and buy that ZSUS or YSUS board. Take a leap of faith because if that isn't the problem, your X board could blow out the Y board again.
