LCD Television technology has been around for a long time, but it keeps getting better. If you have a brighter room, LCD televisions will do a much better job at giving you excellent picture quality.

Sony KDF/50WE655 LCD Projection blue color

Postby hendy » Sat Mar 26, 2011 7:01 pm

I just replaced my lamp with a (brand new)Phillips replacement lamp (XL-2100U) and now have a blue color on my screen. I tried to re-install to make sure it was in properly, but same results. Any ideas what might be wrong. thks

Hello!
Yes actually, the lamp in RPTVs does not emit color, it shine pure white light, any color distortion in this Sony LCD projection TV would come from the optical block, like say a burnt out LCD chip (it has 3 Red, Green & Blue) unfortunately this mostly and surely implies that you need a new optical block since I have yet to find a reliable source for these chip sets and even an easy DIY guide to calibrate it :(
An optical block should look like the pics on the bottom link, hope this helps!

Hello again,
those are examples of optical blocks, since you cannot get the LCD chips separate, you would need to swap out the entire piece... :(
Do not worry it is a simple task 8-) and those already come calibrated just plug and play :P

hope this helps! ;)
