Samsung DLP HLP5663W - black dots and white screen

Postby nettlekettle » Thu Apr 22, 2010 2:23 am

Hello,

I have a Samsung DLP HLP-5663W which I bought in 07/2004. I've had the lamp replaced once in the first year and had no problems ever since. But today, I encountered something very strange. The screen went to a BLANK white screen and within the screen I could make out several black dots all over the screen. I've searched throughout the forum to see if this has happened to anyone but most people have other color dots and other screen colors except for a white screen. The audio is still working fine and I can see the lamp boot up from the back and the ballast still powering up the tv.

Any thoughts of what this problem might be? is this a lamp issue or a color wheel issue?? :?: :?:

I am guessing it's ether the dmd chip or the dmd board. If you can't see your menu's Then most likely its one of these.

Hello nettlekettle.
I would agree with Jason on this, it’s probably the DMD board; here is one of my previous posts that provides a little more info. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1321
Try the menu test, so you can confirm or discard the DMD board.
